State Of Rhode Island Requirements for a Marriage License
- Parties must apply for their marriage license at the city or town hall where the bride resides and both parties must be present.
- Fee is Twenty-four dollars ($24) Note: City of Providence does not accept cash
- Original Birth Certificate or passport as form of ID: Military Id’s, Immigration cards, Citizenship papers are also valid
- Proof of residence: Parties must present valid Drivers License; State issued Picture ID, Utility bill, Bank Statement, Tax Return or Pay stub with current address.
- If previously married: Parties must present their certified FINAL DIVORCE DECREE.
- If spouse is deceased: Please present certified Death Certificate.
- ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH, if not in English a Notary Public or translator must translate the document.
For all Marriage Licenses parties must arrive at city hall between 8:30a.m and 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
